Evaluate the business

The business is evaluated against its idea of success.

Success statements are defined for each building block of the business model.  These success statements can be viewed as success benchmarks against which the business performance can be measured.

The business rates performance and importance in order to identify its strengths and weaknesses. The classification is as follows:

Why do we evaluate?

  • Evaluation identifies the areas where the business needs to focus.

  • A business often needs to make trade-offs and the evaluation process makes the process of identifying trade-offs objective.

  • The evaluation process identifies the areas of strength that need to be maintained and possibly further strengthened.

  • The evaluation process identifies the areas of weakness that need to be strengthened.

  • The evaluation process identifies the areas of waste that can be targeted for improvement.
